EVE HOWELL

Eve is recognized for her contributions to discovery and development of numerous significant offshore oil and gas fields.  Eve was born in Khartoum, Sudan and moved to the UK as a young woman. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Mathematics from King’s College, University of London and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University.

Eve began her career in the late 1960’s with the British Geological Survey.  It was the early days of North Sea seismic exploration and she was asked to review the data from large seismic surveys being run by the major producers.  Eve knew little about petroleum exploration and was forced to learn quickly, but what she lacked in knowledge she made up for in enthusiasm!

While still living in the UK, Eve held positions with Amoco and Exploration Consultants Limited.  In 1981 Eve travelled to Perth, Australia on a short-term assignment that resulted in a stay of 37 years and a change to Australian citizenship.

In Australia, Eve held positions of increasing responsibility with Occidental Petroleum, Bond Petroleum and Hadson Energy Ltd (acquired by Apache in 1993).  She joined Hadson in 1989 as Exploration Manager and served for 17 years in a variety of technical and managerial roles including Regional Vice President, Australia, Apache Corporation between 2004 and 2006.

In 2006, Eve joined Woodside Energy Ltd as Executive Vice President and CEO of the Northwest Shelf Venture – Australia’s largest resource

project.  Since 2012, Eve has served on boards of private and public mining, petroleum and service companies operating in Africa, Australia, Southeast Asia and South America.

Eve has been active throughout her career in many professional societies and has received numerous honors and awards including the Reg Sprigg Medal, the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association’s highest honor.
